In the States, a lot of University courses have a visual culture programme that suffixes their courses with '101' - they are modules that students pick up to accumulate credit. they are a variety of subjects and usually very good introductions to a broad range of subject material. it is quite handy to search for '101' to get started in an area of search, book lists, sites of interest are preselected and recommended and it is easy to search these edited highlights...
